Beat the Heat!

It’s hot.  We know.  But as they say, necessity is the mother of invention, and I think we can all agree that a refreshing drink is just what we need.  Thankfully Kat, from our New York store, has a crazy delicious recipe for a summertime thirst quencher!  Check out our DV girl’s super simple recipe for a uniquely sweet (and dairy-free!) drink that’s sure to make you go “ahhhh…”

Sunset Affogato

-Lemonade
-1 scoop of Ciao Bella Blood Orange Sorbet
-a pinch of cinnamon (caution: a little bit of this spice goes a long way!)

Pour lemonade into your favorite drink glass.  Add a pinch of cinnamon to lemonade and stir thoroughly. Last, add a scoop of Ciao Bella Blood Orange Sorbet, pop in a straw, and enjoy this citrus spin on a classic Italian treat!

Totally Tori

In an office of fashionable girls (and a few, outnumbered guys), we see some fabulous ensembles on the daily.  There’s a wide range of styles here, but Tori for sure owns the edgy rock & roll look with ease.  She’s not afraid of color (hello, her hair is currently teal and was lilac before) and describes her style as “shiny, leopard, glitter, leather!”  We recently got the chance to get to know this sassy gal even better!

That crazy chick from accounting

I was once talking to a friend the morning after the infamous Soletrain party. He was mentioning how he really bonded with “that crazy chick from accounting” last night. Of course I immediately knew who he was talking about. It’s really an accurate way of describing Angela.

Besides being the fun girl to party with, Angela is known around the office for her luscious envy inducing hair and versatile style. I know, I know… everyone likes to say their style is versatile. But her style is truly all-over-the-place versatile. I’ve seen her pumping it around the office in slashed up shorts with old school Nikes one day and flirty dresses the next! Catch more of Angela’s style, plus find out what inspires her below!

Meet blogger Megan from Donatila Rose

category Fashion // Friends // Interviews // Shoes

We caught up with one of our favorite bloggers Megan, from Donatila Rose, to talk style. If you read our blog on the regular (which, you should!) you’ve probably noticed that she’s been all over it lately! What can we say…when we’re obsessed, we’re obsessed.

NAME:  Megan Rose
BLOG URL:  http://donatilarose.blogspot.com/

Hometown: Bay Area, CA

Favorite food: I am very open-minded when it comes to food so I have SO many favorites. Filipino, Japanese and Indian are some of them.

Best movie ever: It’s really hard to answer “best or favorite things” questions because I never have only one. But these are some: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, La Bamba, Blow, Science of Sleep, Clockwork Orange, and Dragon.

Favorite color: Cream and orange.

Hidden talent: I’m great at finding things my husband loses.

Number of shoes in your closet: I haven’t actually counted but around 50 pairs.

How did you start blogging?
I came across Chictopia while searching for a pair of shoes and found individual blogs from there. There were a few that I frequented and they inspired me to start my own.

How would you describe your style in 5 words or less?
Retro, simple, minimalist, prim.

Finish this sentence:
I’ll never be caught dead wearing…there are certain brands that I want to say, but one I think is safe to say is Ed Hardy, lol.

What blogs or fashion sites do you check religiously?
Of course, Fashion Toast. Sincerely, Jules is really cute and I get a lot of inspiration from Oracle Fox and Knight Cat.

What’s the best style advice anyone has ever given you?
YSL said it best, “Fashion fades, style is forever.” Interpreting that gives you good advice: find your style, which is natural, unique and constant. Once you find it, you can take any fashion or trend, that you like of course, give it your touch and you feel good about it.

What 5 things can you NEVER leave the house without?
iPhone, purse, keys, sunnies, and sunblock.

It’s a typical Saturday night, where are you, who are you with, and what are you doing?
These days, most likely at home with the family. In the rare occasion that I am out, it’s with my husband and our friends. I like low-key lounges with good music like the ones that can take me way back, the classics, reggae, and current ones.

What do you love about DV by Dolce Vita?
I love that it carries the same unique style as the original Dolce Vita but in a much more affordable price. I always had to wait for my favorite Dolce Vita shoes to go on sale. The quality is really good too!
