Holiday Party… or Garden Party?

category Apparel // Friends // Shoes

Such a tough choice, I know.

Everyone loves a good holiday party. There’s tons of food, eggnog, kissing randoms under the mistletoe, some chunky drunk dude dressed up as Santa, and GIFTS.

But garden parties are so much fun too. There’s mint juleps, finger sandwiches, soaking up the SUNSHINE, and the crazy cute outfits–I’m talking sheer flirty blouses, big floppy hats, tons of prints and color… basically everything from Melanie’s outfit below.

I give up! I can’t decide. If only I lived somewhere warmer…I could do both, at the same time! I’d call it a Holigardey party. TOO MUCH FUN!

Hey baby

If you’ve been reading our blog religiously (like you should) you may be starting to realize DV by Dolce Vita designs apparel too. Yes, it’s true! The DV apparel line is young, just a baby, and we recently got the chance to sit down with its mama–well, one of its mamas, Robin. She has been feeding and nurturing our baby since its birth nearly a year ago.

NAME: Robin Foti

ROLE AT DV BY DOLCE VITA:  Apparel sales rep, east coast

How long have you been with DV by Dolce Vita? I started working here in March of 2005

How have things changed since you started?  We are growing really quickly as a company!  We moved from the Lower East Side to Soho, I think that says it all!

When was DV by Dolce Vita created and why?  DV apparel hit stores last January!  Almost a year ago!

What do you like best about your job?  The clothes!!!  It’s so fun to see the clothing develop from sketches, to samples and then out to retail!  And then when you see someone wearing it on the street…I could just die!  Also, we have an amazing team here.  We’re all just friends at this point!  It’s a great place to work.

Who do you see as the DV by Dolce Vita girl?  I am a DV girl…I like to dress a little bit more casual, with a vintage touch.  DV covers all of the trends but makes them super easy to wear and at a good price.  If you like it, you can probably buy it….that is what I love.

What is your favorite DV piece ever?
The Leopold jacket!  A swing jacket in leopard faux fur…I wore it for Halloween when I dressed as Edie Sedgwick!  It was perfect.

Where can DV by Dolce Vita apparel be found? Specialty stores everywhere!  College girls love us. Online shopping? Check out Urban Outfitters, Shopbop and Bloomingdales.

How would you describe the DV by Dolce Vita Holiday line?  It’s so fun!  It’s full of perfect little holiday dresses.  Lots of leopard prints, lace, pleating!!  I don’t know what to wear to our holiday party!  I’m leaning toward the Phebe dress.

Where do you hope to see the DV by Dolce Vita line going in the next 5 years?  Taking over the world.

What can we expect for DV in the spring? We see the DV girl going on lots of road trips this spring! She has the perfect wardrobe for a weekend at Coney Island (stars, stripes, and all), a drive across the great US with great prairie dresses, and a week in Mexico with all of her friends, and a suitcase full of bright flirty clothes!

So Stuffed

Holier than Now‘s Ann obviously likes her closets like she likes her turkeys…stuffed.

Okay, enough cheesy one liners…for now. Time to get back to our Thanksgiving sale, which is keeping us pretty busy! For those that shopped the sale these past few days: thank you, we love you, and can we see what you got? Seriously, we’d love to see pics of you and your brand spanking new shoes! Upload your images on our Spotlight page and who knows…you might just double your shoe luck.
